Bench Upkeep

When: Ongoing Where: Bridge 15 (Lime Kilns) to Bridge 62 (Current Terminus) Contact: Arran Jenkins Contact Email: volunteer@ashbycanal.org.uk Open Volunteer Spots: Unlimited

Along the length of the canal from Bridge 15 (near the Lime Kilns Pub on the A5) all the way up to Bridge 62 (the current terminus) there are a number of benches, all cared for by the ACA that require constant maintenance/upkeep.

These benches are treated specifically with ‘Dark Brown Barrettine Wood Protective Treatment’ to protect them and any benches found to be damaged are repaired or replaced.

Volunteers may carry out this task at their own leisure but must work in at least a pair for safety and inform us before and after doing any work. You can either pair up with another volunteer yourself or we can facilitate a partner to assist you. Supplies are available when required for this task, although we do suggest keeping your own to make things easier. We also have a small trolley that is available to carry supplies along the towpath if attending any benches that are in a more remote location away from parking and access to the towpath. Bench locations and further information will be provided upon expression of interest.
