This work party will be to continue on from last time with the surfacing of the worst muddy areas of the new Ashby Canal Trail footpath that was recently completed and runs between Snarestone & Measham, specifically where it passes along behind Bosworth Grange. This area still requires some work to level out some of the troughs that are present from when large plant vehicles have previously churned up the wet ground and then to lay some MOT hardcore over the surface and compact it down, leaving a much more friendly surface for people to walk across whatever the weather.
We welcome volunteers of all ages and abilities to come along and give us a hand, have an opportunity to socialise with other volunteers and find out what we have planned for the future. Give as little or as much time as you can spare. We will be around most of the day but you don’t have to stay for the whole day unless you want to.
You are welcome to bring any suitable tools that you may have although we do have some tools available for use of our own if you do not. It is advisable to wear suitable clothing for whatever the forecast is on the day and also to wear sensible footwear. It is very muddy along the area where we will be working so please bear this in mind.
It is a good idea to bring yourself a packed lunch and any other refreshments that you will require. We intend to provide hot drinks but you are welcome to bring your own should you prefer.
