After many months since we last attended the site we will be returning to the stretch in Measham along the former railway line that runs from the area past the old station/museum then heading down towards and under the Horses Lane bridge and along to the old railway embankment.
This is a very popular route for local dog walkers, especially since being opened as part of our footpath between Measham & Snarestone and it regularly needs maintenance. We will be clearing some vegetation, removing at least one tree stump and laying some crushed stone around the steps leading down from the embankment. All are welcome and you’re free to stay as long or as little as you like. It’s usually a really enjoyable day for all who attend.
It is advisable to wear suitable clothing for whatever the forecast is on the day and also to wear sensible footwear. It is very overgrown in some areas where we are working so please bear in mind there may be a lot of thorns/stingers etc so take necessary precautions.
It is a good idea to bring yourself a packed lunch and any other refreshments that you will require. We intend to provide hot drinks but you are welcome to bring your own in addition or should you prefer.
As always we look forward to seeing some new faces and catching up with old friends.
Meeting at Snarestone Wharf at 09:30am with a 10:00am departure to the work site.
